Analysis of the Justice and Development Party's transition from liberal conservative discourse to local and national discourse

In this thesis, which is examined the transition of the Justice and Development Partyfrom the ''liberal conservative'' discourse to the ''local and national'' discourse, the main argument is discourse transformation. It is important to examine what the identity and ideology of the Justice and Development Party and how they have been transformed in order to understand the change in discourse. In this context, the ideological references will be analyzed which are the source of the practices that the Justice and Development Party is trying to integrate into the system while transforming Turkey, also will be examined the foundations of liberal-conservative and indigeneous-national discources. The aim of the thesis is to examine the foundations and dimensions of change of the identity and ideological references used by the Justice and Development Party, to analyze the environments in which are shaped liberal conservative and indigeneous-national discources. The focus is on the questions in order to identify and analyze the diynamic transitions in the discource transformation and the emphasis that comes to the fore in accordance with the spirit of the period such as; ''has the military administration been restricted in favor of civil liberties in the Justice and Development Party Government?'', ''has the Turkish economy been able to achieve sustainable economic stability under the Justice and Development Party Government?'', ''what method was it built the approach of Justice and Development Party to the development issue?'', ''how did the perception of women's identity manifest in the Justice and Development Party Government?'', '' what extent have fundamental rights and freedoms expanded under the the Justice and Development Party Government?'', '' how has been reflected in political life to the ethnic identity perspective of the Justice and Development PartyGovernment?''. In the methodology of the thesis, that were made classification and comparison over two periods, 2003-2008/2018-2023. While classifying, constitute basic documents the text of the speeches which are shaped by the discourses of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan due to the fact that the leader personality to the fore. There have been taken into account some criteria such as; Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is being Prime Minister and party chairman for the period 2003-2008, and he is being in the position of President and party leader for the period 2013-2018. In this context, in these two separate periods, which are centered in terms of comparing the discourse change investigated how Erdoğan uses the language in social and cultural circles, what meanings he ascribes to rhetoric, how he reflects his own reality in line with these meanings, the relationship of preferred discourses with sociocultural norms, preferences and expectations. It has been tried to determine the similarities and differences of thought between the discourses and transitions shaped in certain time periods. The main purpose and goal of this thesis is to reach the historical background and reasons behind each action with the discourse analysis method and to explain what kind of discourses and methods the discourse owner uses to influence the masses. The frequency of the use of liberal-conservative and indigenous-national discourses was analyzed by taking into account the conditions of the period and the selected facts. While examining the changing and transforming knowledge structures within a discourse, that were also analyzed the linguistic and socio-cultural dimensions of the discourse.
