Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of abdominal breathing exercises on pain, sleep quality and quality of life with adhesive capsulit patients. The 41 adhesiv capsulitis patients, 29 women and 12 men aged between 40-65 years, had divided into two groups by simple random sampling. In the study group, abdominal breathing exercise traning was applied to routine physiotherapy program, in the control group routine physiotherapy program was applied for 8 weeks. Individuals were assessed for lung function test, range of motion, pain, sleep quality and quality of life. First assesment were performed at the beginning of treatment, 2nd assesment were performed at the end of 8 th week. According to the first assesment; there was no difference between groups in terms of age and gender (p>0,05). After eight week abdominal breathing exercise training range of motion (ROM), pain, Shoulder Pain And Disability Index (SPADI), Pittsburg Sleep Quality Indeks (PUKI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (EUS), Short Form-36 (pyhsical function, physical role, emotional role, emergy, mental health, social function, pain ), FVC and PEF values were significantly increased compared to pre-training (p<0,05). In control group, ROM, muscle strength, VAS, SPADI, SF-36(physical function, physical role, emotional role, energy and pain), FVC, FEV1/FVC, PEF values were significantly increased (p<0,05). Development in internal rotation muscle strength, EUS, SF-36 (energy, mental health, social function) and FVC values were statistically significant in favor of study group (p <0,05). As a result, in adhesive capsulitis patients sleep disorders should be assessed and abdominal brething exercises may also add to physical therapy program. Key Words: Adhesive capsulitis, Breathing exercises, Pain, Sleep quality, Quality of life
