Abstract (EN)

PURPOSE: Epilepsy, mental motor retardation, cerebral palsy, febrile convulsions, non epileptic paroxysmal events and headache are the frequently encountered diseases in the practice of pediatric neurology. In the routine clinical practice; evaluation of the frequency and feature of diseases, cross-cousin marriage and diseases depending on genetic discriminations have great importance. The purpose of the current study was to create awareness on pediatric residency by the retrospective evaluation of the patients who were applicants of Adnan Menderes University pediatric neurology department. PATIENTS AND METHOD: 5200 fact's file registration who applied to Adnan Menderes University Research and Application Hospital Pediatric Neurology Clinic during November 2006-September 2015 were evaluated retrospectively. In the curent study which is definer, cross-sectional; case's application age, gender, cause of admission, prenatal story birth week, mode of delivery, similar disease story in the family, diagnostics, special education and rehabilitation past were analyzed. 4649 case's file with full information were assessed. FINDINGS: Cases consisted of %55 percent boys and %45 girls. Infants, with %34,5 (1672) patients, were the most frequent applicants of the policlinic and children aged 6 to 12 were in the second rank with %32,3 (1563) patients. Average age for applicants above 1 years of age was 7,72±4,52 (1-18) years. %17,5 (812) percent of the cases' parents were relatives. %26,9 (1250) children who had disease diagnosis had similar illness in the family. Birth's %86,9 (4039) percent was term and %13,1 (610) was pre-term birth. Psychomotor development was appropriate for developmental age for %66,7 (3100) children and not appropriate for %33,3 (1549) children. The most three frequent applications were crisis with %47,7 (2.218), growth deficiency with % 8,1 (376) and headache with %7,4 (342). The most common three diagnostics were epilepsy %27 (1257), cerebral palsy %9,7 (452), and febrile convulsions %7,3 (341). %19 (866) percent of the patients who had disease diagnosis were also taking rehabilitation.
