Adnî Divan - examination (42-94. gazels)

This work consists of the commentaries of fifty-two ghazals in the Turkish Divan of Adnî, one of the important statesmen and poets of the XV. century. Adni, whose real name is Mahmut, held important positions such as vizier and grand vizier during the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror. Adnî, who lived in a time period that can be considered as a transition period in terms of Turkish language history, stands out with his plain and sincere style. In this study, it is aimed to better understand Adnî's place in the history of Turkish literature, his understanding of art and his literary direction. The study consists of two parts and a conclusion part. In the first part, art and works of Adnî were emphasized. In the second part, which constitutes the main part of the study, the commentary of fifty-two ghazals in the divan were made. The classical commentary method was used in the commentary of these ghazals. According to this method, the couplets were firstly transferred to prose according to today's Turkish, and then the explanations of the related couplets were made. In the explanations, the usages of meaning of the words and figurative meanings within the tradition of divan poetry were given. Again, based on these meanings, it was tried to be explained in the context of literary arts and tradition that the poet emphasized and wanted to tell.
