Evaluation of lower extremity morpometric characteristics of adolescent male football players

Abstract (EN)

PURPOSE: It is to control the structural effectiveness of football and the sociodemographic information received on the participants using anthropometric measurements and to determine the effect of football on pes planus using certain techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sociodemographic information (age, foot size, height, weight, BMI), anthropometric measurement values (lower extremity total length, thigh length, leg length, foot length, knee circumference measurement, leg circumference measurement, ankle circumference measurement) of 120 participants who agreed to participate in the study measurement) was recorded. Grivas Classification System, Staheli Index, Clarke angle values were calculated and evaluated using the footprint method. RESULTS: While the average age of the participants (n=64) playing football was 11.50, the average age of the control group (n=56) was 11.00. When the knee circumference, leg circumference and ankle circumference values were examined, there was no statistically significant difference between the participants who played football and those who did not play football (p>0.05). When the lower extremity total length, thigh length, leg length and foot length values were examined between these two groups, a statistically significant difference was found (p<0.05). When the Grivas Classification System, Staheli Index and Clarke angle values measured by the footprint method taken from both groups were examined, no statistically significant difference was found (p>0.05). CONCLUSİON: According to the results of our study, football has no effect on pes planus. Football affects height, lower extremity total length, thigh length, leg length and foot length.
