The importance of the agricultural sector in terms of the TRC1 regional economy in Adıyaman

Agriculture is an important field of activity in terms of meeting the nutritional needs of people for a healthy diet. With the increasing population, the need for nutrients also increases. This situation makes it necessary to use the limited agricultural lands more efficiently. It requires the highest level of efficiency per unit area. Agriculture is an area that not only meets the nutritional needs of people, but also provides an economic return. The contribution of agriculture to the economy of a region is so significant that it cannot be ignored. Agricultural activities in Adıyaman not only meet the nutritional needs of people, but also contribute to the economy of the TRC1 region, which it is in, along with its own economy. The aim of this thesis is to reveal the importance of herbal agricultural products grown in Adıyaman province, which is located in TRC1 region, in the economy of the region by analyzing the situation in the last ten years. This study consists of three parts. In the first part, information about agriculture, agricultural economy, Adıyaman and TRC1 region was presented under the title of conceptual framework. In the second part, under the title of agriculture, the situation analysis of the most cultivated crops in Adıyaman province in the last ten years and yielding the highest yield per unit area has been analyzed. In the third chapter, under the title of agricultural economy, the contribution of the most cultivated agricultural products in Adıyaman to the TRC1 regional economy and their situation in other provinces in the region were examined. In the grain agriculture of the most cultivated agricultural products in the last ten years in Adıyaman; in wheat (except durum wheat), unprocessed tobacco, barley (other), vegetable farming; in watermelon, dried garlic, table tomatoes, fruit farming; pine nuts (pistachios), seeded table grapes and almonds. It was observed that Adıyaman province made the most contribution to the TRC1 regional economy in products other than dried garlic, pistachio (pistachio) and seeded table grapes, which are the most cultivated agricultural products in Adıyaman. It has been observed that Gaziantep is the province that contributes the most to the TRC1 regional economy in dried garlic, pistachio (pistachio) and seeded table grape products. Adıyaman province makes the biggest contribution to the agricultural economy of the TRC1 region in grain agriculture. In the last ten years, 54%, which is more than half of the grain agriculture yield realized in the TRC1 region, was provided from Adıyaman province. Adıyaman province meets 25% of the region's vegetable agriculture and 23% of fruit agriculture. The share of the TRC1 region of Adıyaman in the crop yield is approximately 34%.
