The flat weavings in Adıyaman region

Our plain weaves, which have an important place among our handicrafts, have lost importance today due to the effect of technology. Protecting these weaving examples that represent our national culture and conveying them to the future generations are of great importance. Adıyaman region is one of the most important centers of weaving culture. Textiles with a wide variety of uses are an important part of the daily life of the people in the region. Adıyaman regional weavings; compositions, motifs, materials and colors, are examples of the continuation of the long history of Turkish art. In the past, while only wool was used as the material in the weaves, yet nowadays cotton and wool are used together. Woven yarns are painted with root paint and mostly consist of geometric motifs. With this study titled as "Plain Weaves of Adıyaman Region" 58 textiles which belong to the region are introduced and cataloged.
