The social criticism in Afet Ilgaz's arts

Novel and story writers have an opportunity to express themselves in their characters and what they write. Literature that is affected by the changes in its period cannot be separated from the problems of the society and it is shaped around cultural values. In this study, the works of Afet Ilgaz, who attends the literature as a socialist, have been analyzed. Thus, the works of the writer have been studied regarding social, political and religious criticism elements. The opinions of the writer about women, marriage, religion, family life and the critical point of view are presented. This is a research that analysing the social criticism elements in Ilgaz's novels, "Esiktekiler, Asamalar, Sendika, Bir Feministin Dogruya Yakın Portresi, Garip Bir Dava, Ermis, Ad Semud Medyen, Yol, Yolcu, Menekselendi Sular, Sorgu ve Dervis", the stories "Bedriye, Basörtülüler, Toprak, Halk Hikayeleri, Çeribası Abdullah'la Idamlık Ismail, Ölü Bir Kadın Yazar, Kazdagı Öyküleri" and "Hayır Tekrar Aglamayacagım, Ev Sahiplerinin Yası ve Dilencinin Kızı" which are published in Yeditepe magazine.
