Abstract (EN)
The impact of climate change is manifested in different forms and violence in various parts of the world. While all plant and animal species living directly and/or indirectly are affected by the consequences, some parts of the earth are affected more sensitive and faster. Numerous studies are being carried out to predict how future plant and animal species will be affected by these changes and to help plan conservation activities. Most of these studies are based on using these models according to climate scenarios. In this study, it is aimed to reveal how some of the major tree species naturally occurring in the distribution area of Eastern chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii) in Africa will be affected by climate change. It is clear that the distribution area of the Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii, therefore has a close relationship with some trees, accordingly their survival storyline depends on the protection of the existence of these tree species. These chimpanzees are known to use particular tree species for feeding and nesting purposes. I modeled the distribution of Ficus sur, Ficus mucosa, and Celtis mildbraedi used for feding and Cynometra alexandri, Trichilia rubescens, and Celtis durandi used for nesting by Eastern chimpanzees determining according to GCM scenerios. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the possible effects of these tree species used by chimpanzees against climate change. In addition, the matter of these tree species is not significant only just for chimpanzees, but also as the habitat and food sources of many other animals such as birds, insects and humans, and this increases the importance of the study. Key words: Climate change, distribution models, future scenarios, Africa.
