Abstract (EN)

Investigation of Morphological Traits and Breeding Conditions of Pacing Horses in Afyonkarahisar Province This study was carried out to investigate the body measurements, color and markings, breeding conditions of pacing horses in Afyonkarahisar province. Research was carried out on 41 horse farm and 117 heads native, crossbred and imported pacing horses. The general means of wither height, rump height, body length, back length, rump length, chest depth, chest circumference, cannon bone circumference and head length; 142,42; 142,50; 145,15; 55,40; 49,77; 55,43; 161,44; 17,58 and 51,94 cm, respectively. It was determined bay (53,0 %), chestnut (23,1 %), grey (18,8 %), black (4,2 %) and pied(0,9%) colors for pacing horses. The horses have head markings and leg markings 43,6 % and 34,2. In enterprises, 75.6% of the shelters are closed.It was found that the horses used imported saddle and palate bridle. It is stated that after the training of the bridle and saddle in the horses, they were trained by attaching a chain to the foot. In the determinations related to injuries, most of the breeding pastern and tarsus injuries were compared with injuries caused by the head and mouth and saddle. It has been determined that horse owners more attention to their family (71,1%), temperament (71,1 %), condition (68,9 %) and food-nail structure (62,2 %). As a result, body measurements, genotype, age and gender were found to be important in the pacing horses in Afyonkarahisar province. The highest values in terms of body measurements were detected in the imported, crossbred and native bred, respectively. Key words: horse, pace, body measurements, color and markings, breeding
