Abstract (EN)

Folklore is a field that studies cultural repertoire of a society. In our study called "Afyonkarahisar Province Bolvadin Town Büyükkarabağ Village Folklore" this cultural repertoire is tried to be searched. First of all "who are Karabağ Turks?" Karabağ Turks are the people coming from Azerbaijan and settled down in Büyükkarabağ, Ortakarabağ, Derekarabağ villages of Bolvadin and Çukurcak and Yenikarabağ villages of Sultandağ (Göker 2000:295). In this thesis study we'll research Büyükkarabağ village of Bolvadin which is settled down by Karabağ Turks. There are two opinions in this thesis sudy. The first one claims that Büyükkarabağ has a rich and colourful folkloric heritage. The second is the effect of the living conditions changed by the time to the culture. The main reason of this change is mass media. The change has reflected on the folklore and folkloric products and brought with new interpretations. In our study we tried to reveal these changes. In the prologue of our thesis, Büyükkarabağ is introduced in historical, geographical and economical aspects. In the first chapter we have mentioned about linguistic aspects of Büyükkarabağ, while we have given place to anonymous products which are the starting point of our thesis. In the other chapters it is mentioned about the religious and superstitious beliefs of Büyükkarabağ's people. We mentioned about folklores and traditions, transition periods of life and folk medicine that are affected by these beliefs. In the conclusion part; there are suggestions and opinions related to keeping alive Folklore of Bolvadin Büyükkarabağ. Keywords: Culture, Karabağ, Town, Folklore, Büyükkarabağ.
