SWOT Analysis of geothermal energy and state incentives within Afyonkarahisar province

Since the beginnig of humanity, people have relied on energy sources to fulfill essential needs such as nourishment, shelter, and cleanliness. As civilizations progressed, the demand for energy increased, leading to a diversification of energy resources. In modern times, fueled by technological advancements and the advent of electricity alongside the urbanization and industrialization spurred by the industrial revolution, energy has become a vital necessity akin to breathing. In order to meet this demand, humanity has sought to harness the energy resources provided by our planet, whether directly or indirectly. This study, starting from the acknowledgment of energy's paramount importance in everyday life, provides a comprehensive overview of the various types of resources utilized to meet this demand. It particularly delves into renewable energy sources, narrowing down to geothermal energy sources, and elucidates their utilization methods. Additionally, the study explores the dissemination of geothermal resources through government incentives, aiming to underscore the significance and necessity of their widespread utilization within the framework of renewable energy sources. The study initially presents insights gathered from both domestic and international literature regarding energy sources, focusing on geothermal energy among renewable options and the methodologies employed for its utilization. Following this, it delves into the concept of incentives, specifically highlighting governmental initiatives aimed at promoting the utilization of geothermal energy sources. In the final segment, the study examines the methods of utilizing geothermal energy sources, particularly within the Afyonkarahisar province, and conducts a comprehensive evaluation using the SWOT Analysis method. Based on the literature review and analysis, it is concluded that geothermal energy presents ample opportunities and warrants further expansion through the implementation of necessary incentives.
