Abstract (EN)

Evalation of animal welfare in dairy enterprises of Afyonkarahisar in the aspects of barns and breeding conditions. The aim of this study was to investeategate animal welfare with the aspects of barn measurements, equipment, temperature, humidity, gasses and some breeding operations in Afyonkarahisar dairy enterprises. This research was carried out in 101 dairy cattle enterprises in 2013. Barn types were determined as tie-stall (98%), free-stall (1%) and semi open (1%) in cattle enterprises. Means for barn, windows and chimney area were determined; as 184.0, 5.3 and 1.2 m2, respectively. Feeders height and width were 59.4 and 46.2 cm. Means for temperature, humidity, ammonia and carbon dioxide were determined; as 16.7 0C, 59.3%, 7.4 ppm and 1049.7 ppm, respectively. Calves were bred, indoor group (95%), indoor individual (3%) and calf hutch (2%). Group breeding area was determined as 4.9 m2/head for calves. It was determined cattle enterprises are given colostrum were fed to calves in all. Age of weaning calves was 108.2 days. There were no castration and tail cut in cattle enterprises. It was determined that 32.7 % and 3 % staff in cattle enterprises have been educated in cattle breeding and animal welfare respectively. As a result, animal welfare could have been negative affected for tie-stalls, waterers, loafing area, stall, bedded, floor cleaning and stockmanship training deficiencies in cattle enterprises.
