Abstract (EN)

This aimed to examine the fruit yoghurts marketed in Afyonkarahisar regarding the presence of Aflatoxin M1. Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) is found in the milk of animals that consume feeds contaminated with Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and Aflatoxin M1 is found in all products produced with these milk. Aflatoxin M1, which has a potential carcinogenic and teratogenic effect, is a very important risk factor especially for infants and children. Since fruit yoghurt consumption is also high by infants and children, it is important if there is Aflatoxin M1 contamination in fruit yoghurts. In the study, 80 fruit yoghurt samples, which are sold with various brands, were used as sample materials. The samples were examined regarding the presence of Aflatoxin M1. The results of the study showed that 12 samples (40%) of 30 banana fruit yogurt samples, 1 sample (5%) of 20 strawberry fruit yogurt samples and 6 (20%) of 30 forest fruit yogurt samples contained Aflatoxin M1 above the acceptable legal limit. It is determined that a total of 19 of the 80 samples (23,75%) contained higher aflatoxin M1 value as risky food group. To protect the public health, It is recommended that the ccompanies producing milk and dairy products should be conttrolled periodically regarding the presence of Aflatoxin M1
