Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Tooth decay and gum disease are the most common oral health diseases in humans all over the world. Lactobacillus oral microflora is a promising alternative to mouth and dental hygiene possibilities for recruitment for pathogenic bacteria adhesion surfaces and inhibition of the substances they produce and thus their use as oral probiotics. Due to the positive effects on oral and dental health, the probiotic properties of lactobacilli obtained from saliva were evaluated in this study and the selection of probiotic lactobacilli to contribute to the protection of oral and dental health was aimed. For this purpose, the availability of lactic acid bacteria isolated from saliva samples from 15-18 year olds as oral probiotics has been investigated. Tests to determine probiotic properties have examined the competition of the selected isolates against Streptococcus mutans at the real tooth surface. All of the isolates showed inhibition against S.mutans. In addition, In addition, the presence of isolates 13L1B, 14L1, 14L1B, and 28LBX reduced the amount of S. mutans attaching to the tooth surface. The results are promising in that these isolates can be used as oral probiotics in the prevention of S. mutans-borne diseases. Detailed work on the subject is needed.
