Vefeyât which confronts us long time as a subsection of the history books reaches a detached work identity from XVII. centruy. After this date, several authors have written in this genre. One of the authors is Ahmed Câvid. In his work called Vefeyât-ı Kibâr, Câvid had introduced short description from hijri 2. year until 1213 about famous persons who die. The work is important by the reason of having a partly proper wording and including biographies of Turkish literature artists. This study consist of one introduction and three part. In introduction, vefeyâtnâme is described. The develepment process in Turkish literature is explained. In first part, Ahmed Câvid's life and works is given. In second part, Vefeyât-ı Kibâr's examination in terms of pattern and ingredient. In the last part, the transcripted text of the work has been revealed based on incomplete draft copy of the author, which is registered in the Hazine Department of the Topkapı Palace Museum Library, no 1295.
