Ahmed Hamdi Abuk Pasha (1853-1923)

The world of the 19th century paved the way for important wars as a result of the conflicts of the great powers, and after these wars, great land losses and new political and economic formations. The addition of financial and administrative problems to the land losses experienced put many states in a difficult situation. One of the aforementioned states, the Ottoman Empire, dealt with crucial internal issues such as the March 31 Incident, the dethronement of Sultan Abdulhamid II, the acquisition of rulership by the Party of Union and Progress, domestic rebellions at the beginning of the 20th century. External matters such as Tripoli, the Balkan Wars, the First World War were significant troubles for the state. The Turkish War of Independence, which started as a reaction to the administrative problems of the Ottoman Empire and the occupation of the Ottoman lands during the period of ceasefire after the First World War, succeeded and the Republic of Turkey was established on October 29, 1923. In the last stages of the Ottoman Empire; Ahmed Hamdi Abuk Pasha, a military commander and politician who lived between 1853-1923, is a person who took charge of many duties in the political and administrative levels of the state. Ahmed Abuk Pasha, who belongs to a Caucasian immigrant family, undertook duties such as Ottoman Attaché in various countries, Commander of the Fourth Corps in the Balkan War, and acting governor in multiple provinces. Lieutenant General Abuk Ahmed Hamdi Pasha, who undertook high command duties such as Commander of the Fourth Corps, Deputy Commander of the Eastern Army and Commander of the Catalca Army during the Balkan War, was retired by Enver Pasha in January 1914 after the war. Ahmed Hamdi Abuk Pasha stayed in Damascus and Beirut during the First World War and returned to Eskisehir after the end of the war, when the Unionists lost rulership. The Pasha carried out noteworthy political and military duties in the governments of Damat Ferit Pasha and Ali Rıza Pasha, which were established during the period of ceasefire. The Pasha who served as the Minister of War, the Minister of Public Works, a Council of Ministers officer, and a member of the Military Council in the cabinet of Damat Ferit Pasha served in the cabinet of Ali Riza Pasha as the Minister of Public Works, and a member of the Military Council. Ahmed Hamdi Abuk Pasha died on October 23, 1923.
