Conversational implicature in Ahmed Shawky's poetry plays

This dissertation deals with the phenomenon of the Conversational Implicature of the Scientist Paul Grice. It presents this phenomenon in accordance with Grice's interest in deliberative studies and the process of communication, and the general principle that he assumed for that process of communication which is the Cooperative Principle and its subsidiary conversational maxims. The dissertation provides an explanation to the theoretical framework of the Conversational Implicature and its relation to the four sub-rules created by Grice. It also provides a highly detailed application to analyze that concept through Ahmad Shawky's poetic plays, which showed a rich use of the Conversational Implicature and how to involve it in the play's dialogues.
