Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of the present thesis study is to examine the phenomenon of evil discussed as part of various disciplines within the framework of the stories and novels of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar. Apart from the "Introduction", "Conclusion" and "References" sections, the present study consists of two main sections. In the first section titled "Evil", in which the conceptual framework of the study is drawn, the concept of evil was discussed and examined in mythological, religious and psychological terms. The novels and stories of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar were examined around the phenomenon of evil in the second section titled "Examination". In this section, the stories and novels of Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar were discussed in terms of both themes and characters. First, the literary works were examined within a thematic framework under the sub-headings "Desire", "Death" and "Collapse of Civilization", while the moral, social and psychological elements of evil that emerged with social changes were tried to be revealed. Following this, the phenomenon of evil was examined under the sub-headings "Antagonists" and "Characters Exposed to Evil" based on characters and their relationships with each other.
