Russia in Ahmet Midhat Efendi's work "Kâinat" (Text - study)

Ahmet Midhat Efendi is one of the important figures of Turkish Literature of 19th century. He frequently studied Eastern and Western civilizations in his works and tried to inform his readers in every sense. In our thesis, information is given about the work of Ahmet Midhat named ''Kainat'' by focusing on the life, literary personality and works of Ahmet Midhat. The names of the volumes in the series of Kainat (15) have been quoted. The essence of our work consists of the transfer of the part named "Universe-Russia" in the 4th volume of the book named "Universe" of Ahmet Midhat Efendi into Latin Alphabet and the analysis of this text. The work named "Universe-Russia" has been handled in accordance with the division of Ahmet Midhat by dividing it into "Russian Country", "Ahvâl-i Geography of the Russian Country" and "Russia's Ahvâl-i Tarihyesi". This main section titled "The Ahvâl-i Tarihye of Russia" is the part where historical information about Russia is transformed to the readers. This title is divided into 4 parts within itself. There are also subtitles created in these sections. Our study has been handled in accordance with these sections. Ahmet Midhat aims to introduce the Russian history, geography, culture to the readers with a view fitting to his own understanding.
