The role and position of the narrator in Ahmet Mithat Efendi's novels

A narrator is the first voice in a fictional text. The narrator and the fictional reader standing right beside the narrator in a novel are the two elements that form the communication between the real author and the real reader. This study is composed of three sections in total. The first section, called "About Narration and Narrator" aims to create a framework of narration and narrator from past to present. In this context, typologies and classifications made on 'the narrator' up to now have been studied. In the second section, titled "The Role and Position of the Narrator in Tanzimat Reform Era Turkish Novel", the questions of how the narrator is positioned and what roles it undertakes in the early Turkish novels are studied. The novels of Şemsettin Sami, Namık Kemal, Samipaşazâde Sezâi, Nabizâde Nâzım, Recaizâde Mahmud Ekrem, and Mehmed Murad, and Hüseyin Rahmi's first novel that he wrote in this period were studied in this sense. In the third section, titled "The Role and Position of the Narrator in Ahmet Mithat Efendi's Novels", Ahmet Mithat Efendi's novels are analyzed in terms of the role and position of the narrator.
