Abstract (EN)

To know Ahmet Refik Altmay and to define his place in Turkish History who made historical researches in his life's fifty years, wrote many books and articles will help us todetermine the history consideration of Ottoman Empire's last times and early period of Turkish Republic. He was a historian of Ottoman and Turkish Republic and known as the man who made people love history.In this study we researchedon his histoical condideration, life, works,books and the way he lectured to his students.His books before and after Turkish Republic were compared and his books were examined physically. The people he had been affected and whether he changed his historical consideration has been examined and determined. Beside these, Ahmet Refik who was an exceedingly faithful historian to Ottoman, was given impotance of in his understanding of history and after Republic, it was researched if there were any differences in his understanding of history or not. Reaching so many reader masses means that the way he explained history is very significant. He wrote many books and devoted his life to history teaching but as he was living he couldn't get the positive response that he really deserved. In his life's last times he suffered so much but his suffering was explained by other writers after his death. The misfortunes in his last times was explained under the title of the writings after his death'.
