Abstract (EN)
In this study, the decisive criteria improving the drying performance of ovens for the covers of tin cans employed by tin can manufacturing plants have been determined and investigated. There is little published work regarding the topics needed for the design and manufacture of the ovens used during the manufacture of tin cans. Due to market conditions and competition, this lack of knowledge is more noticeable. As a result, this research has been conducted in order to address the lack of available information to some extent.During the manufacture of tin cans, a series of drying processes is applied in a sequence including: lacquer drying, internal and external lacquer drying of the weld regions of tin cans, and drying of tin cover gaskets. The drying ovens used during the manufacture of tin can covers are, in general, three types: horizontal, vertical and induction. The drying ovens for tin cover gaskets have the most important impact on the quality of products with the consideration of the performance of tin can manufacturing processes. As a result, this type of ovens has been investigated in this study. In this thesis, the different types of the drying ovens for tin cover gaskets used by tin can manufacturing industry have been differentiated and compared. For companies manufacturing such tin can covers, a series of decisive criteria has been defined. The set of standards, which is required for achieving right investment decisions and efficient working conditions by manufactures, has been identified. In this study, the importance of the selection decisions for the drying ovens for the covers of tin cans employed by tin can manufacturing plants has been emphasized. The set of the important criteria affecting the decision process has been identified. In this work, the priority and importance of those criteria has been determined by making use of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP).Using the available data and information and employing the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is one of the multi-objective decision making techniques, the selection process of the drying oven of a representative plant has been carried out.
