Families education expenses in primary school level

Besides special benefits of primary schools for individuals, it has outer benefits for society so it requires it to be presented as free and compulsory to all citizens. Researches in literature prove that families start to take more obvious roles in that issue when the public draws back from education finance. This condition prevents education to be presented to all citizens equally and with the same quality.The purpose of this study is to show whether education expenses of household at primary school levels of families differ or not in terms of socio-economic variables and schools. The population of the study consists of 10.456 students? ?who study at public and private primary schools - families in city center of Kastamonu. In that study, 789 families are reached. 707 of these families send their children to public primary schools and 82 of them send private primary schools. The datas of the research are collected with the survey developed by the researcher. The datas are analysed with the packet program of SPSS (11). According to the findings of the research, the expense of the families in 2011-2012 education year is 11.971,34 TL. 1.920,15 TL of these expenses are made by families who send their children to public primary schools and 10.051,19 TL of them are made by families who send their children to private primary schools. Education expenses of the families differ in terms of the school variables according to the type of school, socio-economic conditions of school, the type of teaching at school, transportation type of school; in terms of socio-economic variables according to with whom student lives, education level of parents, job condition of parents, monthly income level, ownership condition of the house, the sort of house, hiring sum of house, the number of the people at home, class levl of students.
