Abstract (EN)

The Assessment of High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein Response After Helicobacter Pylori Eradication in Familial Mediterranean Fever Aim: Show the decrease or not decrease inflammation with high-sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (CRP) which go on occur also for the non-attack period in post Helicobacter Pylori (Hp) eradicated in patients with Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF). Material and Method: 95 patients with FMF who were refer to clinics of Atatürk University Medical Faculty Internal Medicine Department and accepted to participate to the study were included in this study and 37 control patients who has similar age distribution and no additional disease and infection but only Hp eradication due to dyspepsia were included in the study. Hp eradication therapy was given to patients who were found to have Hp positive. Patients who were eradicated after treatment were compared with pre-treatment and post-treatment high-sensitivity CRP. Results: In Hp positive FMF patients the high-sensitivity CRP was detected 4.66 ± 1.15 mg/L before treatment and 2.71 ± 0.68 mg/L after eradication. After treatment a decrease in the high-sensitivity CRP values was detected but statistically the decrease was not significant (p = 0.391), as the standard deviation was high. Before treatment CRP value was 5.71 ± 0.95 mg/L and the post-treatment was 4.01 ± 0.51 mg/L. There was a significant decrease in CRP values before and after treatment in FMF patients who received eradication (p = 0,010). There was no difference between before and after treatment high-sensitivity CRP values in the control group patients (p = 0.936). Conclusion: We detected a decrease in laboratory values of high-sensitivity CRP and statistically significant decrease at CRP in FMF patients who was Hp eradicated. It is suggested that Hp eradication treatment should be given in order to prevent complication secondary to chronic inflammation in FMF patients in which inflammation continues in non-attack period.
