Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, energy, exergy and advanced exergy analysis at five different altitude have been performed for an air cycle machine that stands in the air conditioning system of Airbus A-320 and the values obtained have been compared. In 2007 there were 16,800 aircrafts, today this number is 19,600 and by the year of 2024 it is expected to be 35,300, that is; presence of less energy consuming systems and devices are going to be more important in the future than today. Though the concept of energy is necessary for describing inefficiencies, it not accurate measuring and identifying them. The inefficiencies are explained by the concept of the exergy but exergy is not sufficient to represent interactions between the components of a system. Therefore, to understand the interactions between the components of the system, application of advanced exergy analysis is mandatory. The components which have the highest potential for improvement and the reasons of exergy destructions have been evaluated in this thesis thanks to the advanced exergy analysis.
