Özet (EN)

Seismic hazard analysis in terms of geotechnical earthquake engineering is of vital importance for dams, which are structures built for various purposes. The dams located in the Akarçay basin of Afyonkarahisar province have witnessed major earthquakes under the influence of the active seismic activity of the region. The instrumental records of the earthquakes that have occurred since 1900 have been accessed from the database of B.U. Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute. The seismicity of the region was analyzed by using probabilistic seismic hazard analysis method Gutenberg-Richter and Gumbel extreme value distribution frequency relation and the recurrence periods and time-dependent occurrence risks of earthquakes were analyzed. Within the scope of the study, the maximum ground motion acceleration (PGA) values that can be generated by faults within 50 km around the 30 dams located in Akarçay basin were calculated, and seismic hazard and total risk classes were determined according to the technical guide on Seismicity and Design Principles of Embankment Dams prepared by Tosun (2002) according to the dam characteristics.
