Özet (EN)

Objective: Our study aimed to investigate the relationships between smartphone addiction and sleep quality, eating attitudes and obesity. Method: This research was conducted with volunteer participants studying medicine at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine and is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The study included 407 volunteer participants who were actively studying at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, were between the ages of 18-30, had been using a smartphone for at least the last 6 months, and agreed to participate in the study and signed the consent form. All participants were administered the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form (ATBÖ-SF), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PUKI), and Eating Attitudes Test (YTT-40), along with a semi￾structured Sociodemography Data Form developed by the researchers and suitable for the purpose of the research. Participants' height and weight were recorded based on self-report. Results: The average age of the participants was 21.15±2.17 years and 49.9% (n=203) were women. Smartphone addiction was detected in 45.9% of the participants. In our study, it was observed that the median value of the PSQI scale total scores of people with smartphone addiction was significantly higher than the median value of people without smartphone addiction (p<0.001). Although YTT-40 scores were found to be high in participants with smartphone addiction, no significant difference was detected (p = 0.061). BMIs of participants with and without smartphone addiction were found to be similar (p = 0.290). When the participants were divided into normal and obese groups according to BMI and compared, PSQI, EAT-40 and ATBÖ-CF scores were found to be similar (p=0.674; p=0.511; p=0.362, respectively). In the logistic regression analysis, it was determined that there was no chronic physical disease (p = 0.043, OR = 1.952), there was no psychological disease (p = 0.035, OR = 1.911), average daily internet usage time (p < 0.001, OR = 1.251), average daily internet usage time (p = 0.043, OR = 1.251), average daily internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251), average daily internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251), daily average internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251), daily average internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251), daily average internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251), daily average internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251), daily average internet usage time (p = 0.001, OR = 1.251). phone usage time (p<0.001,OR=1.475), average daily social media usage time (p<0.001,OR=1.860), poor sleep quality (p=0.002,OR=1.113), poor eating attitude (p=0.009, OR=1.022) was found to be associated with smartphone addiction. 9 Conclusions: It can be said that almost half of university students have smartphone addiction, and those with smartphone addiction have poor sleep quality. It can be said that smartphone addiction is associated with poor sleep quality and poor eating attitude, but it is not associated with obesity. Keywords: Smartphone addiction, sleep disorder, eating disorder, obesity
