Abstract (EN)
As global digitalization transforms the tourism sector, the adoption of smart technologies by destinations is becoming increasingly important. In this context, the thesis aims to identify applicable innovative technological applications and develop a conceptual model for Kırklareli to become a smart tourism destination. The thesis specifically evaluates how a sustainable, competitive, and visitor-centric tourism approach can be supported by digital solutions, specifically for Kırklareli. A quantitative survey was conducted with 405 participants, structured around statements collected under the headings of smart information systems, smart travel, smart traffic, ecommerce, virtual reality, and smart tourism management. The findings reveal strong potential, particularly in areas such as information systems, traffic management, and digital payment solutions, while awareness of certain technologies, such as virtual reality, is more limited. A conceptual model proposal is presented as part of the findings. The conceptual model developed in the thesis contributes to the literature and offers applicable strategic recommendations for local governments, tourism businesses, and policymakers, providing a roadmap that can guide Kırklareli's digital tourism transformation.
