Abstract (EN)
Intelligent transportation systems, which developed at a greater pace in the 2000s, have begun to be used in many areas of life. Especially the emergence of destructive and innovative technologies has enabled intelligent transportation systems to communicate with more elements in the environment. Research has shown that intelligent transportation systems not only provide ease of use to the user, but also greatly increase safety, security and efficiency. It is seen that ITS is used in different ways in the aviation sector, where technology is used extensively. The effects of intelligent systems are seen in areas such as terminal, runway, apron, taxiways, cargo operations, airport transportation systems, air traffic management. Ensuring safety in airport operations is very important. Otherwise, serious accidents and unsafe events may occur. The human factor, which is the most threatening factor to safety, can be reduced with the help of ITS and situational awareness can be increased. In this study, the effects of intelligent transportation systems on movement area safety were investigated. It is aimed to determine the ITS used at Istanbul Airport and the safety effects of these systems. A comparison was made between Istanbul Airport and Atatürk Airport. Data were collected using the data triangulation method. The obtained data were analyzed in the MaxQDA 2020 program.
