Özet (EN)
Acrolein (AC) is a chemical that is commonly known to have a neurotoxic effect. Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a supplement is derived from dairy products that accelerates fat burning in the body besides its many biological functions. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of CLA on mitochondrial oxidative stress and bioenergetic functions in AC treated rat brain. Sprague Dawley rats were given AC (5 mg/kg,o.p, 6 days per) ve CLA (200 mg / kg, o.p., 6 days per week) and WP with AC for 30 days. In general, there were decreases in mitochondrial GSH level and antioxidant enzymes in the AC treated group. In contrast, significant increases were observed in mitochondrial lipid peroxidation (LP) and protein carbonyl (PK) levels in the AC group. Furthermore, in the AC group, were observed significant decrease in electron transport chain (ETZ) enzymes such as complex I and complex IV, tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle enzymes such as mitochondrial isocitrate dehydrogenase (mISDH), alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase (KGDH) and ATP level. It was observed that oxidative stress and deteriorated bioenergetic parameters caused by AC were completely normalized in the group AC+CLA. As a result of our findings, it was observed that CLA was effective in improving oxidative stress and impaired mitochondrial functions in brain tissue by the effect of AC.
