Abstract (EN)

In this paper, detailed analysis of vertical separator structures within a circular sound channel was carried out by using the Mode Matching Technique, a reliable approach in the analysis of the propagation of acoustic waves. A meticulous analysis and solution of the problems that may arise in such applications is possible with analytical and numerical methods. In this thesis study, Mode Matching Technique was preferred among these methods. With this method, acoustic pressure is expressed in terms of modes, and a system of linear equations with infinite unknowns is obtained for each problem by using continuity expressions in the transition region. Then, vertical separator combinations were created via the scattering matrix method. By solving the resulting sets of infinite unknown linear equations via the Matlab program, scattering parameters were reached. Besides this, the accuracy of the analytical solution was verified by comparing it with the scattering parameter results obtained from the simulation program. This study has shown that desired acoustic filter structures can successfully be implemented through designing vertical separator in acoustic channels. Additionally, the solutions obtained through the simulation program were compared with the analytical solutions obtained through the Matlab program, and the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches were revealed.
