Abstract (EN)

It is known that having a high level of physical activity and regular exercise improves mood states and improves mental state. Regular exercise and a high level of physical activity during adolescence, which is a transitional period between adult and childhood and one of the most important periods of human development, is very important for physical and mental health. In this study, it was investigated whether the acute aerobic exercise effect on the mood state of the girl students in the high school age and the improvement of mood state after the acute exercise in the participants with high physical activity level were better than the sedantary students. Fourty female volunteers from high school have participated in this study. According to physical activity levels, 18 participants were active group and 18 participants were inactive group. Both groups were subjected to bicycle ergometer for 20 minutes. Changes in mood states were assessed by POMS (Profile of Mood States) test before and after exercise. In conclusion, it is seen that acute aerobic exercise improves mood states without group distinction and it is better to improve confused, fatigue, vigor, general state values according to inactive group from mood states after acute exercise in most active group. In addition, in the values of tension and anger, the healing seen in the inactive group was higher than the active group, and the depression scores showed no significant change between the two groups. The current study also showed that regular exercise affects mood states positively and that those who have higher physical activity after a single set of aerobic exercise are better at mood states than before exercise.
