Abstract (EN)

A diagnosis of ovarian torsion or acute appendicitis might be difficult to make for clinicians since the clinical symptoms are similar in both of these causes of acute abdomen. Ovarian torsion is one of the rare gynecological emergencies. The fact that the clinical signs of ovarian torsion are not specific enough to make a diagnosis cause delay in diagnosis and treatment. However, acute appendicitis is a disease that requires pathological emergency surgery and is difficult to diagnose accurately. In case of delay in diagnosis and surgical intervention of ovarian torsion, necrosis-related ovary is lost, whereas in acute appendicitis, necrosis is perforated. The parameters that can determine the early diagnosis of ovarian torsion and acute appendicitis before surgery have not been determined yet. Demographic, clinical, laboratory and ultrasound information of acute appendicitis cases diagnosed with acute abdominal pain and diagnosed cases of ovarian torsion will be used in the Emergency Medicine Department of Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital. Logistic regression analysis will be used to determine which variables are determinative in the differential diagnosis of acute appendicitis and ovarian torsion.
