Abstract (EN)

Kinesiology taping in stroke is a method used to help improve muscle contractions and increase muscle control by affecting the Golgi tendon organ and muscle fascia. The dual task has an important place in improving attention, balance and coordination skills, which are among the rehabilitation goals within the scope of the treatment plan. The aim of this study is to examine the instantaneous effect of kinesiology taping applied to the lower extremity on dual task and balance in patients with acute stroke. Thirty volunteer patients (15 female, 15 male) who had a stroke for the first time in the last month, whose lower extremities were grade 5 or higher according to Brunstroom, and who scored 24 or higher on the Standardized Mini Mental Test were included in the study. Sociodemographic data were recorded. Dual-task was evaluated with the 10-meter walk test, and balance was evaluated with the sit and stand test. The dual tasks and balances of the participants were compared before and after the kinesiology tape application. The mean age of the patients included in the study was 53.63± 17.220 years. The mean number of days after stroke was 6.47±5.776 days. A significant difference was found in terms of the 10-meter walking test applied for the dual task before and after taping (p=0.009). There was a significant difference in sit and stand test before and after taping (p<0.001). There was no difference in these parameters between the genders. In conclusion, kinesiology taping applied to the lower extremities of individuals with acute stroke was found to be effective in improving dual task and balance. We think that the inclusion of kinesiology taping technique in rehabilitation programs may be effective.
