Abstract (EN)

VALUE OF PENTRAXIN-3 IN THE DIAGNOSIS OF ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE Objective Evaluating and diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke in emergency department depending on time is critically important. The purpose of this study is the differential diagnosis and predictiıon of stroke in the patients have normal brain infarction biomarkers and normal neuroimaging findings. Materials and Methods The study of Adult Emergency Department Karadeniz Technical University School of Medicine between May 2014- May 2015 with the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke in 59 patients and 40 healty volunteers were taken as control group, values of the patients and control group were compared with plasma Pentraxin-3. Results The mean age of patients 69.81 ± 12.30 , mean age of control groups were 49.13 ± 7.84. The median value of 0.th hour PTX-3 was 3.21 ng/mL (min=0.67, max=28.84), the median value of 12.th hour PTX-3 was 4.42 ng/mL (min=0.43, max=29.67) , the median value of control group PTX-3 was 0.77 ng/mL (min= 0.12, max=7.37) . These findings state that PTX-3 levels of 0.th hour and 12.th hour in acute ischemic stroke patients are significantly higher than control group (p=0,001). Conclusion Our results showed that levels of Pentraxin-3 of patients are higher than control group and may be helpful in the early diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke compared to control group.
