Abstract (EN)

ObjectivesStroke is the third major cause of death after coronary artery disease and cancer in the world, among the leading causes of disability in the first place. Researches of patients presenting with stroke in the emergency department with an early diagnosis and treatment of this disease may reduce the impact on mortality and morbidity. In this study, the emergency department in the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke is to determine the diagnostic value of plazma levels of SCUBE1.Materials and MethodsThe study of Adult Emergency Department Karadeniz Technical University School of Medicine between May 2011- October 2011 with the diagnosis of acute ischemic stroke in 30 patients and 30 healthy volunteers were taken as control group. Values of the patients and control group were compared with plasma SCUBE1.FindingsThe mean age of patients 74.50 ± 10.50, mean age of control groups 59.93 ± 12.63. The average value of the sixth hour SCUBE1 of the patient group 25.104 ± 15.837 ng/ml, the average value of twelfth hour SCUBE1 27.395 ± 14.146 ng/ml, the average value of control group SCUBE1 35.019 ± 22.310 ng/ml. SCUBE1 valuee of the control group were higher in patients group. Age adjusted values compared to the patients and control group SCUBE1 value of the sixty hour was not statistically significant (p = 0.626). The sixth and twelfth hours SCUBE1 values were compared at not statistically significant ( p = 0.334).ConclusionIn our study value in patients with acute ischemic stroke than the control group statistically significant levels of plazma SCUBE1 gained, for this reason the benefit will not be concluded that early diagnosis of ischemic stroke patients.Key Words : Emergency Department, Acute Ischemic Stroke, SCUBE1
