The Temple Apollon Isotimos in Alabanda

Alabanda is one of the important city in Caria Region. It is explained which the city have got richness and a lot of scorpions, by Strabon. First of all, the name of the city seems in Macedonia War (197 B.C.) as ally of Roman Empire. The name of city is changed under dominance of the Seleukos that was under take Anatolia and Caria Region (197-190 B.C.). Beside of this period, Carian City and Alabanda is given to Dominance of Rhodos by Roman Empire, with Apameia Treaty in 190 B.C. after Macedonian War. The firts to mint of coins in the city, seems in 198-7 B.C., before it was changed the name of city. When it was recognized Antiokheia name on the coins, again Alabanda is seen on the coins after 190 B.C. Alabanda is haven right of asyle, that it was escaped from dominance of Rhodos. Name of the city is not heard in The Rebellion of Aristonikos. It was mentioned that Alabanda has taken right of immunity, has found on inscription in Lagina, it was dated in 81 B.C. This inscription is prooved Alabanda was a independant city. In the Roman Period, in second half of first century B.C., Carian City was rebellied to Labienus, also Alabanda and Mylasa were joined this rebellion. After this period, under the dominance of Roman Empire, Religion of Sebastheus and Goddess Roma was founded in Alabanda. The city is joined to Bishopric of Aphrodisias. And the setlement in Alabanda has been continiou from Turkish Period to present. Temple of Apollon Isotimos has got an important place, in Hellenistic Period. It was dated with characteristic of architectural and plan on the temple. The Temple is pseudo dipteros, and it have got 8x13 column order. The Temple is reflected tradition of Hermogenes with characteristic of plan and column order. Characteristic of architectural of, temple of Apollon is resembled to Temple of Hekate in Lagina. Because of this, we can think, architect was same in both of temples. And date of thistemples must be nearly. Consequently, temple of Apollon Isotimos in Akbanda is dated about 100 B.C.
