Abstract (EN)
In this study, the change and development of local, folkloric traditions, traditions, ritual practices and rituals of Circassian folk culture which were moved to Circassian villages of Samsun Alaçam district after forced migration from Caucasus in 1864 were examined. Circassians are trying to preserve and maintain the characteristics of traditional Caucasian culture in the region where they settled by migration. Although the traditions of birth, marriage and death of the transition periods are changed as a result of interaction and culturing with the local people, they are tried to be kept alive to a great extent. The first generations that settled in the region formed the settlements as closed villages. This has had a significant impact on the preservation of traditional folk culture characteristics. Especially after the 1950 invasion that appeal to a wide audience and showing Circassian associations in Turkey, there are activities that are important in social and cultural fields. In this sense, Circassian culture tries to survive by moving from closed village life to urban area.
