The coins of Anatolian Seljuk in Alanya Archaeology Museum

Money gives information about the political, economic, social, and cultural values of communities. The information we receive through coins is important since they provide precise information about the period in which it was produced and regulated. It is possible to acquire information about the period of a sultan's reign, comment on the economical structure of a period, and learn the cultural and political correlations of a state with its environment through coins. Alanya Archeology Museum is very rich in terms of the variety and quality of Anatolian Seljuk coins. This thesis study bears significant importance in the context of introducing and evaluating the mentioned coins. This study which is titled "Anatolian Seljuk Coins in the Alanya Archaeological Museum" consists of 3 essential chapters. In the first chapter, the history and coins that were produced by the Anatolian Seljuks are explained in general terms in light of previous studies. In the second chapter, the Anatolian Seljuk coins in the Alanya Archaeology Museum, which is the main subject of our thesis, are examined in a certain scheme. In the catalog section, the periods in which the coins were regulated were listed chronologically and each coin was examined separately. In the third chapter, the coins presented in our study are discussed, compared, and evaluated under various contexts and the final opinions are suggested. As a result of this study, it has been determined that there are 162 Anatolian Seljuk coins in the inventory of the Alanya Archaeology Museum. These coins were analyzed and interpreted in detail and a new scientific study was brought to the art history literature.
