The meaning and importance of Muharram in the traditional structure of Alevism

The traditional texture of the Alevism belief system has started to form by centering some building blocks, and these building blocks have continued their existence for centuries together with the values attributed to them. The Karbala Incident and the month of Muharram, the shell of this incident, have been the most important of these building blocks. Because the incident of Karbala has been the most sad result and the last stop of the religious discourse and political divisions that started to flare up after Hz. Muhammad breathed his last. While some Muslims were trying to keep the Karbala incident alive in silence, some Muslims, far from revolting against the Umayyad persecution, started to turn into a society that was silent and disloyal enough to forget the Karbala incident. Turks, with embracing Islam, showed great respect to Hz. Hussein's personality and the purpose he pursued. With the deep sadness of the brutal murder of the Ahl al-Bayt and Hz. Hussein The Turks, who took care of this sad event and the Ahl al-Bayt, placed the Karbala incident and Hz. Hussein at the center of the belief system they created under the roof of Alevism over time. For this reason, the month of Muharram, known as the "Mourning Month" in the Alevism belief system, is a very important and holy month in which Hz. Hussein and Ahl al-Bayt are commemorated with various rituals. In this study, the position in Alevism belief of Karbala incident, which is the most sad event in Islamic history, its reflection on literary texts, the meaning and importance of Muharram have been tried to be explained.
