Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the prediction of perceived stress and psychological symptoms and to explore the accompanying bodily sensations. The sample of the study consists of adults aged between 18 and 65 years. There are 267 female participants (68.50%) and 123 male participants (31.50%), making a total of 390 individuals. In the study, a Demographic Information Form, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), SCL90-R Scale, and Body Sensations Scale (BSS) were used. Independent samples t-test was conducted for two-group demographic variables and one-way ANOVA analysis was performed for demographic variables with more than two groups to examine the differences in levels obtained from measurements according to demographic variables. Linear/multiple linear regression analysis was used to examine the level of effect of independent variable(s) on the dependent variable. Independent samples t-test was conducted for two-group variables and one-way ANOVA analysis was performed for variables with more than two groups to examine the differences in scores obtained from scales among categorical variables. SPSS 25.0 software was used to reach the findings of the study. The results of this study suggest that the relationship between perceived stress and psychological symptoms can predict an individual's bodily sensations. An increase in perceived stress positively contributes to the occurrence of psychological symptoms and the perception of bodily sensations. The current study is considered to contribute significantly to the development of necessary strategies in terms of its potential impact on daily functionality of individuals, as perceived in the literature. It may also facilitate the exploration of new research areas and hypotheses for other researchers.
