Abstract (EN)

Our study has been planned in a way of investigating the effects of the drug addiction on respiratory system and creating awareness on this content. The study has been conducted with 40 healthy and 40 drug addicted people who gets a treatment at AMATEM department in Akdeniz University Medicine Faculty. The datas are interpreted according to the results of the anamnesis, physical examination, chest x-ray, spirometry and respiratory questionnaire for both test groups and the final evaluation has been carried out by using these datum. For the addicted group, the symptoms related with respiratory system and the symptom scores of the respiratory questionnaire has been found as significantly high during our study. The Ronkus, one of the symptom of the respiratory system examination, has been found more frequent in the results of the addicted group. Especially, the thermal injuries which are results of using marijuana, heroin and cocaine by inhalating method and the broncospazm which developers with starting of the inflamatuar processes have been thought as the clinical reflection. FEV1/FVC value of the control group, admitted as the reflection of the Broncospazm, has been found as significantly low. Also it has been seen that average value, 86, is not on the stage of the obstructive values. Vital parameters of the Group 1 such as respiratory rate, heart rate, and change of SpO2 was meaningful. It has been seen that the respiratory and heart rate is fast and the SpO2 has less values. With the pathological findings in PA chest x-ray, it has been observed that 2 people have calsific pulmonary nodules, 1 person has a milimetric pulmonary nodule, 1 person has pleural fattening and 2 people have a telektazik band formation. Rate of incidence of pathological findings for group 1 has been found as significantly higher when compared with control group. It has drawn attention that all member of the addicted group has smoking addiction and they have started to smoke earlier than the members of the control group. Average consumption of cigarettes is 13.8 for group 1 3.89 for group 2 in boxes of cigarettes per year. Also, average age of consumption of cigarettes is 13 and 18 respectively. Datas that are related with using of narcotics and the common methods of using of narcotics has been recorded during our study. As a result, the inhalation method has been found as the most common way of using both heroin and cocaine. Also it has been found that this method is significantly higher than IV method. The rate of using methods among the addicted people has been found as follows: 62.5% (25 person) of the people prefer only inhalation method, 32.5% (13 person) of the people prefer both inhalation and IV, and 5% of the people prefer only IV method. In our study group, it has been observed that the most common narcotics is heroin. Also we have found that some of the drug addict takes both heroin and cocaine by combining them. We have the opinion that our study has been affected by several variables such as the age distribution difference between two groups, smoking addiction of the all people in study group, using of more than one narcotic substance by all participants and doing it by in ways of inhaler and IV
