Abstract (EN)

The research was conducted in a quasi-experimental design to determine the effect of psychoeducation on individuals with alcohol-substance use disorder on internalized stigma and self-esteem. In Sakarya Training and Research Hospital Korucuk Campus AMATEM, 211 people with alcohol and substance use disorder diagnosis and inpatient treatment without withdrawal symptoms constituted the population of the research, and the sample consisted of 68 volunteers to participate in the study. A total of 68 people, 34 in the experimental and control groups, participated in the study. Pre-test and post-test were administered to both groups at the same time. After the pre-test was applied to the people in the experimental group, psychoeducation lasting three weeks was applied. 3 sessions of psychoeducation were applied in the first and second weeks, and 4 sessions in the last week. Psychoeducation was applied for three weeks, consisting of 10 sessions and each session lasting 45-60 minutes. No intervention was applied to the control group. In the collection of data; Personal Information Form, Addiction Profile Index (API), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Internalized Stigma in Mental Illness Scale (ISMI) were applied. IBM SPSS Statistics 26 program was used for the data, and Skewness-Kurtosis values were checked to find out whether the data had a normal distribution. While evaluating the study data, descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum) were given for categorical variables (number, percentage) and for numerical variables. Independent sample T Test and Chi-Square test were used for the difference between the two groups, and Pearson Correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the dependent sample T Test and the measurements for the differences between the times. P<0.05 was accepted for significance. In line with the analyzes performed, it was determined that there was no statistically significant difference between the post-psychoeducational groups in terms of self-esteem and internalized stigma mean scores (p>0.05). Suggestions were made based on the results obtained from the research.
