Özet (EN)

Post-transplantation complications cause serious morbidity and mortalityin patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT).Single nucletide polymorphism in non-HLA genes are also proposed to have arole in post-transplantation complications. Glutathione S-transferase P1 (GSTP1)enzyme has a major role in alleviating oxidative stress. We evaluated the effectsof GSTP1 polymorphism on iron parameters, early post-transplantationcomplications and day 100 mortality in acute leukemia patients undergoingallogeneic HCT.The incidence of sinusoidal obstruction syndrome, acute graft versus hostdisease, infections mucositis, hemorrhagic cystitis, day 100 mortality and overallsurvival were similar in patients with and without GSTP1 polymorphism. Whilethe rate of grade 0-2 anemia was higher in patients with GSTP1 polymorphism, grade 3-4 anemia rate was higher in patients without GSTP1 polymorphism(p=0.02). GSTP1 polymorphism did not affect the serum iron and ferritin levels. However in patients with GSTP1 polymorphism, transferrin saturation levelsincreased significantly (p=0.02). Overall survival was significantly longer inpatients with ferritin <1000 ng/ml.In conclusion, GSTP1 polymorphism did not have an impact on ironparatmeters and early post-transplantation comlications and day 100 mortality inacute leukemia patients undergoing allogeneic HCT.Key Words: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, posttransplantcomplications, Glutathione S-transferase P1 enzyme polymorphism
