Germany, after being defeated in both World War I and World War II, faced numerous economic and social problems. The rise of the National Socialist Party and Adolf Hitler's subsequent control of Germany led to aggressive and stringent policies both domestically and internationally, causing the German economy to plummet. The resurgence of Germany's economy is notably attributed to the emergence of the "Ordoliberalism" school of thought. Ordoliberalism advocates for a market economy where the state assumes a regulatory and supervisory role to ensure the proper functioning of the market and social justice. The development of the Ordoliberalism ideology was significantly influenced by the culture of the Freiburg School and the economists associated with it. Wilhelm Röpke, who later joined the Freiburg circle, is often regarded as the father of Ordoliberalism due to his ideas and writings. After being stripped of his teaching position, Röpke relocated first to Türkiye and then to Switzerland, where he continued his efforts to improve the German economy. The study concludes by outlining the economic downfall of Germany, the economic policies applied, and the subsequent economic revival.
