Sheltered workshop application in Germany and Turkey

The phenomenon of disability is a subject that takes a place in social life in today's and past societies. In our country, the importance of this subject has been comprehended in recent years; various policies have been started to be improved by applying reverse discrimination for disabled individuals who are one of disadvantageous groups. The policies that are going to be practiced to enable the disabled to become integrated with society are quite significant. From this point of view, the matter of employment of the disabled has also become more of an issue. The studies on the employment of the disabled in Turkey have accelerated in recent years. In this thesis study, by using literature survey and documentation review which are among research methods, sheltered workshop which is used as one of the methods of employment of the disabled has been analyzed with the appearance in Turkey and Germany, and the practices in both countries have been compared. In the first section of this study, the concept of disability has been emphasized, at the same time; statistical data about the disabled in Turkey have been included. In the second part of the study, the employment of the disabled has been evaluated and the appearance of sheltered workshop in Turkey has been analyzed. In the third and last part, sheltered workshop in Germany has been discoursed and the comparison with Turkey has been fulfilled.
