Abstract (EN)

The objective of this study is to assess the primary stability values, marginal bone loss rates, data on peri-implant status and the effects on patient's satisfaction of two implant- retained overdentures with bar or locator attachment placed in mandibular complete edentulous patients used an immediate-loding protocol. Two implants with same size and diaemeter (Nobel Biocare, Göteborg, Sweden) were placed in 28 patients with complete edentulous mandible and the patients were divided into two groups according to the overdentures with bar or locator attachment to be applied. Clinical and radiographic findings of the patients were evaluated at the 6th and 12th months following the loading procedure. No statistically significant difference between the Periotest values at the 6th and 12th months, however, there was a significant difference was found between the Periotest values of the locator and bar attachments (p=0.01). A significant difference was determined between the intraoperative Periotest values of the locator and bar attachments (p=0.01); there was. however, a significant difference was found between the Periotest values (p>0.05). No statistically significant difference in the measurements of marginal bone loss was observed between the implants of both groups at 6th and 12th months (p>0.05). At the end of one year follow-up, no significant difference between the two groups was determined with respect to bleeding on probing, pocket depth and plaque index values (p>0.05). According to the scores of the OHIP-14 and VAS, no significant difference between the satisfaction levels of the two groups was determined, however, there was a statistically significant difference in the intra- group comparisons of the attachment types in all VAS scores, and the subdimensions of physical dysfunction and physical pain in the total score of OHIP-14 scale (p<0,05). After one year of clinical follow-up, no loss of implant was observed in both groups. Also, no implant failure was observed in both groups at clinical follow-up after one year. Successful results were obtained when two implant-retained overdentures with bar and locator attachments were placed in complete edentulous mandibles with immediate loading protocol.
