Abstract (EN)
It is seen that the need for audiovisual translation is increasing in the world and in our country. Platforms where audiovisual translation and Turkish translation options that are offered are increasing and the number of translations added to a product is diversifying. The development of technology and the increase in widespread internet use have also made access to audiovisual products easier and faster. Overcoming linguistic differences is possible thanks to audiovisual translation types, and it seems that the type of translation that meets this need most quickly is subtitling. The increase in subtitling requires more research and development on this subject. In the literature review, no study has been found on how the roles and working conditions of subtitle translators in the subtitling process have changed. To shed light on this issue, it is essential for translation studies to reveal the process experienced by translators in the field while subtitling and the working conditions they are in, with their advantages and disadvantages. On this study, subtitling and subtitle translator were examined with the descriptive method. Afterwards, the survey investigating the role and working conditions of the subtitle translator in the translation process was evaluated using the thematic analysis method. As a result, it has been determined that technology and the attitudes of translation companies have positively and negatively affected the role and working conditions of subtitle translators in the process to a certain extent, and suggestions have been presented to contribute to the field.
