X. book of the Golden Light Sūtra (Text-translation-commentar-glossary)

In this doctoral thesis, we have studied on the Sūtra of the Golden Light's the Xth book which takes place among the pages between 607/1-7, 627/22, and 677 of Pamyatniki Drevnetyurkskoy Pis'mennosti' (The Buddhist Uighur Text, Altun Yaruk) which was published by Malov S. Ye's in 1951 (p.168 -187). The Golden Light (Altun Yaruk) was originally written in Sanskrit Suvarnaprabhasasutra, and it is one of the most voluminous book among the other Uighur Buddhist texts. The Golden Light was formed by 10 books (Old Uig. tägzinç) and 31 chapters (Old Uig. bölök). As we pointed out, the Golden Light is the most important Buddhist Sūtra, and it was translated into Chinese from Sanskrit in the 8th century, and then during the 10th century it was also translated into Uighur from its Chinese translation. Our thesis includes the following chapters: in the first chapter, there is a brief introduction about the Golden Light Sūtra, the Xth book and its content; besides we also gave some information about the recently published studies on this text. After that, we briefly mentioned about the method that we used in our dissertation. In the second chapter, the transcription and transliteration parts of Berlin fragments, which include the recto and verso pages of Berlin (U) and Mainz (Mz) fragments, were presented. In the third chapter, the transcription and transliteration of St. Petersburg text was given. The Turkish translation of the text follows this chapter. The fifth chapter of the book contains the notes and commentaries on the text according to the comparison between Uighur and Chinese versions of the text. After that, our dissertation ends with the conclusion and the bibliography part.
